Russia, Kazakhstan to agree on Imashev Field in September
MOSCOW, July 17 (Itar-Tass) -- The Russian-Kazakh agreement on the
joint development of the first trans-border condensed gas deposit, the
Imashev Field, will be signed in early September of the current year, the
experts of the two sides agreed on Friday, a source in Russia's Ministry
of Nature said.
"The agreement will be signed over the VII Forum on interregional and
trans-border cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan with the
participation of the two presidents," the source said. "This will be the
first object for development, which is located in territories of two
countries."
Earlier, on March 30, 2010, Russia's government approved a draft
governmental agreement between Russia and Kazakhstan on joint exploration
of the trans-border condensed gas deposit the Imashev Field. The ministry
of nature was made responsible for the talks with the Kazakh side.
For quite a long time, the Imashev Field had been a disputable issue
in the delimitation of the border between Russia and Kazakhstan.
