Germany, France demand int`l inquiry into disorders in Kyrgyzstan
BERLIN, July 16 (Itar-Tass) -- Germany and France demand an
international investigation be conducted into Kyrgyzstan's disorders that
took about 2,000 lives, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said on
Friday. Together with his French counterpart Bernard Kouchner, he is in
the Central Asian country.
When visiting the city of Osh, where most violent clashes took place,
he said that stability would be achieved only when the causes were
established. In this connection, an independent international inquiry is
needed, he stressed.
Kouchner suggested discussing the issue of an international
investigation into the events in Kyrgyzstan during the informal OSCE
foreign minister meeting that will take place in Alma Ata, Kazakhstan.
When meeting with Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbayeva, Westerwelle and
Kouchner expressed support for her.
