MILLI MAJLIS CHAIRMAN TO ATTEND 3RD WORLD CONFERENCE OF SPEAKERS OF PARLIAMENT
Baku, July 16 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s parliamentary delegation led by speaker Ogtay Asadov will be attending the 3rd World Conference of Speakers of Parliament to be held on July 18-22 in Geneva, Milli Majlis press-secretary Akif Nasirov told journalists.
According to Nasirov, the delegation includes MP Samad Seyidov, head of the Milli Majlis Administration Safa Mirzayev and other officials.
The broad theme for the Conference is “Parliaments in a world of crisis: securing global democratic accountability for the common good”.
Topics for some of the panel discussions include strengthening trust between parliament and the people and strengthening the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its relationship with the United Nations.
The World Conference of Speakers of Parliament is a global summit focusing on democracy, the role of legislative institutions and their relationship with the United Nations.
The conference participants will adopt final declaration.
On the sidelines of the event, Ogtay Asadov will meet some of his counterparts.
