Mongolian president participates in Baikal submersion expedition.

PORT TURKA, Buryatia, July 16 (Itar-Tass) -- Mongolian President
Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj has begun submerging aboard the manned Mir-1
mini-sub into Lake Baikal.
The Mir is piloted by head of the Mirs on Baikal expedition Anatoly
Sagalevich.
The submersion to a depth of 400 metres takes place five kilometres
away from the port of Turka.
The Mongolian president visits Lake Baikal and the expedition base
during the fourth general session of the World Mongols' Convention.
In the second submersible also working underwater are scientists from
Buryatia and Mongolia.
Fifteen dives have been made this summer. This is the 16th, Sagalevich
told Itar-Tass.
