SPEAKER MEETS KOREAN DELEGATION


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Parliament Speaker of Mongolia D.Demberel received Thursday a delegation headed by Jong Jang Song, a member of the National Assembly (parliament) of the Republic of Korea and head of the Korea-Mongolia parliamentary group.
Mr. Jong thanked the Speaker for the audience, then the Speaker Demberel spoke about a closing meeting of the parliamentary autumn session and the biggest policy decisions made by parliament.
Mr. Demberel emphasized that the two countries' parliaments significantly contribute to a development of the cooperation between their countries. He reminded the Korean side about his request, sounded during his visit to S.Korea this spring, to pay an attention to protecting interests of the Mongolians in the South Korea. Then he expressed a satisfaction with marking of the 20th anniversary of the Mongolia-Korea diplomatic relations, and requested the Korean side to support a campaign for providing the S.Korea-based Mongolians with professional levels certificates.
“The relations and cooperation between our countries have specific features, for example it is needed to widen the understanding and cooperation, for many Mongolians work and live in South Korea,” Mr. Demberel said. “Parliament's decision allowing the government to construct railways and exploit mineral deposits creates opportunities for Mongolian and Korean businessmen both to develop cooperation,” he added.
The head of the Korean delegation Mr. Jong thanked for making a positive decision on exploitation of the Tavan tolgoi coal deposit, and requested a support in participating in the deposit's projects.
Mr. Jong introduced to the Speaker accompanying him officials, the members of the National Assembly of Korea. Mr. Jong said they work in the parliamentary Standing committees on economics and defense.
The Speaker expressed a gratitude to the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Mongolia for being at the meeting. Mr. Demberel said he is satisfied with widening of the inter-parliamentary collaboration, and wished them to enjoy visiting Mongolia.
