BAKU, PRAGUE LAUNCH DIRECT FLIGHT
Baku, July 16 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan and Czechia have launched a direct flight between their capitals.
The agreement was reached during a visit by vice-president of the Azerbaijan Airlines Eldar Hajiyev to Prague, where he held talks with president of the Czech Airlines Miroslav Dvorak.
A first plane with 80 people on board, including representatives of the Azerbaijan Airlines, was welcomed at the Prague Ruzyne Airport by Czech government officials and MPs.
Speaking to a press conference at the airport, Hajiagha Aliyev, deputy director of the Azerbaijan State Civil Aviation Administration, said the flight would “bring our nations close to each other”.
Petr Vlasak, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Prague airport, said the launch of the flight was necessitated by the reciprocally growing number of tourists from both Azerbaijan ad Czechia.
Tahir Taghizade, Azeri ambassador in Prague, expressed confidence “the flight will contribute to developing economic, trade and cultural relations between our countries”.
Radek Matula, Czech ambassador in Baku, praised the political relations between the two countries.
The 4-hour flights will be carried out on Thursdays, with round-trip ticket costing nearly $540.
The agreement to launch the direct air link between the Azeri and Czech capitals was signed by the two countries` foreign ministers in Baku this May.
