Medics of RF, Mongolia, PRC to discuss issues of traditional medicine

ULAN-UDE, July 15 (Itar-Tass) -- Specialists in academic and
traditional medicine from Russia, Mongolia and China will hold a
round-table meeting in Ulan-Ude to discuss ways of integrating traditional
medicine of Asia's peoples into the existing systems of healthcare, as
well as issues of modern development of Oriental Medicine. The round-table
meeting is being held within the framework of the fourth General Session
of the Convent of Mongols of the World which opened in Buryatia on
Thursday.
As ITAR-TASS learnt at the Ministry of Healthcare of Buryatia,
representatives of the Institute of Traditional Medicine of the Mongolian
State Medical University (Ulan-Bator), the International Academy of
Traditional Tibetan Medicine (Lhasa, China), medical educational
establishments of the Siberian Federal District and Russian cities will
exchange their experience in using methods of Oriental Medicine.
"It is not accidental that Buryatia became the venue of the meeting of
the three countries. Due to Buryatian orientologists' efforts, Tibetan
Medicine has rid itself of the label of charlatanism. The Center of
Oriental Medicine has been working in Ulan-Ude for more than 20 years.
This is the only state medical establishment of Russia where diagnostic,
treatment and preventive services based on the synthesis of knowledge of
modern European and traditional Oriental Medicine are given," a spokesman
for the ministry said.
More than 60 medicines developed by scientists of the Buryatian
Scientific Center of the Sibetian Branch of the Russian Academy of Scienes
were introduced into medical pactice at the Center of Oriental Medicine.
