NUMBER OF TURKEY'S EMPLOYED PEOPLE REACHES 22.5 MLN IN APRIL



ANKARA (A.A) - 15.07.2010 - The number of employed people increased 1,803,000 and reached 22,501,000 in April, 2010 when compared to April, 2009.
Turkey's statistics authority, TurkStat, stated on Thursday that of those who were employed in April, 2010; 25 percent was employed in agriculture, 19.5 percent was employed in industry, 6.3 percent was employed in construction, and 49.2 percent was employed in services. 
Employment in agriculture increased 1.1 points, industry increased 0.5 point, construction increased 0.5 point, while that of services dropped 2 points in April, 2010.
While non-institutional population increased 805,000 people and reached 71,173,000, non-institutional working age population increased 853,000 and reached 52,360,000 people in the period of April, 2010.
The ratio of people who worked without any social security related to the main job inclined to 43.3 percent with 0.6 point rise. The share of people who did not have any social security in agriculture decreased from 85.8 percent to 85.1 percent and that in non-agriculture increased from 29.2 percent to 29.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Labour force participation rate became 48.8 percent with 1.6 points increase compared to the same period of the previous year in April 2010 period. The rate was realized as 70.8 percent with 1.1 points increase for male compared to the same period of the previous year and realized as 27.7 percent with 2.2 points increase for female.
