Jakarta, July 22 (ANTARA) - The following are the headlines of major Indonesian newspapers published here on Tuesday.
The Jakarta Post SINGAPORE TAUNTS RI, RP AND THAILAND OVER CHARTERSingapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday taunted the three ASEAN members who have not ratified the ASEAN Charter. Without explicitly naming them - Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand - he warned the three democracies, who founded the regional organization along with Malaysia and Singapore, that ASEAN would go ahead with the charter without waiting for all 10 members to ratify it.
Kompas CLEANSING AT BUREAUCRATIC LEVELBesides spreading across the country, the corruption practices have also infected a number of state institutions including state enterprises. Therefore, the government should cleanse the state institutions from corruption by starting from bureaucratic level.
Republika AGO DETAINS SEVEN POST OFFICE OFFICIALSThe Attorney General Office (AGO) on Monday detained PT Pos Indonesia president director Hana Suryana on charges of corruption. Hanna, who was named a suspect together with seven other heads of post office branches last week, was detained after he and others were questioned for eight hours over their roles in illegal dealings in 2003.
Media Indonesia US B-52 BOMBER CRASHES IN GUAMThe United States long range bomber B-52 with six crews on board crashed in Guam, Central Pacific, on Sunday July 20. The similar type of that bomber plane also exploded at US airbase in Qatar on April 5 this year.
