SOME 3,000 PKS CADRES ATTEND CONGRESS IN MAKASSAR
Makassar, S Sulawesi, July 22 (ANTARA)- A total of 3,000 cadres of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) from across the country attended their national congress taking place here from July 21-23, 2008.
The PKS president Tifatul Sembiring opened the party's congress here on Monday night.
In the mean time, Hidayat Nur Wahid, chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), who was once president of PKS, South Sulawesi governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo, and secretary of the Singaporean embassy also attended the opening ceremony.
During the congress, PKS would among others make an evaluation of the party's achievements and discuss a strategy to win the presidential election for 2009-2014 period.
Tifatul, however, said the party was still at the position of zero option for the next presidential candidacy.
So far PKS had been successful to win in 95 out of the 155 activities of direct regional head elections.
