ONE MILLION SINGAPORE DOLLARS REWARD FOR INFO ON SELAMAT KASTARI
Batam, July 22 (ANTARA) - Two private individuals have offered a 1 million Singapore dollars reward for information which may lead to the capture of Mas Selamat Kastari, a fugitive in the past five months.
Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng said at Parliament on Monday they offered the reward to those who give an information about the whereabouts the fugiitive, at home or abroad.
The two private indivicuals, Wong said has submitted a proposal to the Singapore Minister of Home Affairs, but asked for anonymity, to prevent themselves as well as their family and business to become the target of vengeance.
He told Parliament that the police cannot offer a reward for information on fugitives, involved crimes, or for assistance from the public.
Selamat bin Kastari, is a Singaporean citizen, born in Kendal, East Java on January 23, 1961, and is now the most sought fugative in Singapore after he escaped from his detention cell at Jalan Whiltley, Singapure.
He was accused as being leader of the Jamaah Islamiah, Singapore chapter, and planned the blow up of seven trucks fully loaded with explosives in several locations in the island state, and involved in planned bombings and a plane collision at Changi airport in 2002.
He was arrested by Indonesian antiterror personnel in East Java in January 2006, then sent back to Singapore, and detailed without trial based on the Law on Singapore's Domestic Safety.
