All Kyrgyz refugees return home - gvt envoy
BISHKEK, July 13 (Itar-Tass) - Nearly all refugees who had been forced
to leave their homes during the mass rioting in Kyrgyzstan's south,
returned to their towns and villages, said here on Tuesday Aigul
Ryskulova, the Kyrgyz interim government's special envoy for assistance to
refugees and those affected by the ethnic riots in the south of the
republic.
"All refugees have virtually returned to their homes," she said.
According to Ryskulova's data, there are no tent camps, put up for people,
fleeing from mass disorders, in the Osh and Jalal-Abad regions. "People
whose homes were destroyed, are provided with tents and humanitarian aid,"
she emphasised.
"All in all, authorities allocated 2,000 tents for refugees whose
total number (according to preliminary estimates) added up to between
75,000 and 100,000 people. Earlier, first vice-premier Almazbek Atambayev
called the restoration of dwelling houses, destroyed during the conflict,
a top priority task of the interim government.
According to Ryskulova, nearly 6,000 tonnes of various humanitarian
cargoes have been brought to the republic's south. Officers of special
services in the Osh and Jalal-Abad regions work actually around-the-clock
to respond efficiently to all applications by citizens.
The mass rioting in the Kyrgyz southern regional capital Osh started
on the night of June 11. It flared up in the neighbouring Jalal-Abad
Region the next day. The state of emergency and the curfew were proclaimed
in the conflict zone. They will be in force at least till August 10.
According to official data, 312 people died and 2,300 turned for medical
aid during disorders, pogroms and racial clashes.
Preliminary estimates show that over 1,400 dwelling house, buildings
and cars were burnt down during pogroms. Around 800 criminal cases were
instituted at this time, and 100 people were arrested.
