Russian Air Force to deploy two air defence systems in Far East
MOSCOW, July 13 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian Air Force will deploy two
air defence systems C-400 in the Russian Far East, Air Force Commander
Colonel-General Alexander Zelin said on Tuesday.
"The two air defence systems to be deployed by the strategic command
block 'Vostok' are to fulfil the tasks of defence of strategic facilities
in the Far East from space and air threats," Gen. Zelin said.
He specified that these systems are intended for liquidation of
ballistic missiles and their combat blocks, manned and unmanned flying
apparatuses in the whole range of altitudes - high, very high and maximum
low.
Earlier, First Deputy Defence Minister Vladimir Popovkin said that
five more air defence systems C-400 will be supplied to troops this year.
One or two of them are planned to be stationed in the Far East, Popovkin
said.
