Cabinet ratifies $9 mln loan to finance vocational training project

SANA'A, July 13
(Saba) - The Cabinet ratified on Tuesday a loan agreement of USD 9.1 million to help
to
finance the vocational training and skills development project, singed with OPEC
Fund for International Development on June 1 ,2010.
The Cabinet instructed the concerned Ministers to follow up the completion of the
legal and constitutional procedures required for the final approval of the
agreement.
The project aims to mitigate the effects of poverty and improve the livelihood of
poor in rural areas, especially women the rural population through providing them
with
appropriate skills and micro-financing to enable them to achieve their economic
development on their own.
In addition to, the project focuses on vocational skills oriented towards market
and access to financial services in order to facilitate their integration in the
process
of socioeconomic development at both local and national levels.
The projects consists of seven parts including ease of access to education,
vocational training for young people, women's training, microfinance,
capacity-building, supporting
the implementation of the project, and services relating to training.
