Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific airways launches flights to Moscow.

HONG KONG (XIANGANG), July 13 (Itar-Tass) - Hong Kong's top rated
Cathay Pacific Airlines launches direct flights to Moscow starting from Tuesday.

An Airbus A340-300 of the carrier, which is one of the biggest and
best as to the level of service in Asia, left for Moscow's Domodedovo
airport earlier on Tuesday and on the same day will fly back. Flights will
be made three times a week - on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Cathay Pacific was founded in 1946 by two former pilots - American Roy
Farrell and Australian Sydney de Kantzow. Both served in the Himalayas
during WWII and dreamed about setting up an air company that would connect
China with the rest of the world and would operate flights across the
Pacific Ocean.
Now the company has 127 planes that make passenger and cargo flights
on more than 120 routes across the world.
Cathay Pacific is the second carrier of Hong Kong that launches
flights to Russia. Two weeks ago a smaller but actively developing Hong
Kong Airlines began flights to Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport on A330-200
airbuses. Prior to that only Russia's Aeroflot flagship carrier made
regular flights between Moscow and Hong Kong.
This activity is triggered by a sharp increase in the flow of tourists
between Russia and Hong Kong after a bilateral agreement abolishing visas
was signed last year.
