Iran condemns fatal bombings in Kampala

Tehran, July 13, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Monday condemned the twin bomb blasts in Kampala, Uganda, and the neighborhood on Monday, which killed or injured a number of innocent civilians.
According to Foreign Ministry Information and Press Department, Mehmanparast, while condemning the bombings, said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran government and nation voice their sympathy to the Ugandan government and nation on the terrorist act.”
He hoped that despite the incident, peace and stability will continue to prevail east of Africa and the Ugandan and other regional nations will lead peaceful co-existence.
He wished divine forgiveness for the victims and patience for their bereaved families.
The bombings hit a popular Ethiopian garden restaurant and a large rugby field in a different Kampala neighborhood on Sunday when people were watching a broadcast of the World Cup final. Hundreds of people had massed to watch the game.
At least 64 were reportedly killed and more than 50 were wounded./end
