Yemen, Syria initial agricultural cooperation protocol
SANA'A, July 10 (Saba) - The
Yemeni Cooperative Agricultural Union and the General Union of Syrian Peasants
initialed
on Saturday a protocol of bilateral cooperation program in preparation for a final
signing by the Yemeni-Syrian Joint Committee.
The program, signed by heads of the two unions, includes exchanging experiences,
information, statistical bulletins and documents that concern the agricultural
cooperative
work in the two brotherly countries and enhancing aspects of agricultural training
between them.
It focused on the importance of exchanging the agricultural products and searching
for mechanisms to achieve that and avail from the strong relations between the two
countries
to strengthen the flow of goods and agricultural products between them.
In addition to, the program dealt with coordinating efforts and positions between
the two unions in the different Arab and international forums on various issues to
serve
interests of the Arab farmers and the Arab nation.
Also the program included discussing the possibility of establishing a joint Arab
cooperative projects in various areas of agriculture to contribute to the
development of
agricultural sector in the two countries and enhance its role in achieving the food
security.
Head of the Syrian Peasants Union Hamad al-Saud and his accompanying delegation
left Sana'a later on Saturday, after a several-day visit to Yemen.
In a statement to Saba, al-Saud noted the importance of implementing what has been
agreed upon between the two sides in order to improve and increase the agricultural
production
in the two countries and ensure the food security for the citizens of both countries.
