Wealth and residence of future spouse do not matter for Russians.



MOSCOW, July 10 (Itar-Tass) -- Most Russians do not care much about
future spouse's wealth level or place of residence, as reported by Russia'
s oldest polling institution, VCIOM.
Russians do not object marrying a person who lives in another city or
village: 66 percent of the surveyed would not mind such a decision of
their relative, and 23 percent would support the decision. The surveyed
would not be stopped by the difference in incomes /64 and 15 percent
respectively/ or in professional or social status /63 and 13 percent
respectively/.
The respondents are neutral about the difference in educational and
cultural levels of the spouses /57 percent/, but they would rather take
the difference negatively than positively /19 against 14 percent
respectively/. The surveyed answered similarly to the question how they
take an earlier marriage of a future spouse /53 percent take it neutrally
and 29 - negatively/, kids from earlier marriages /48 and 34
respectively/, Russia's different nationality of a future spouse /47 and
34 percent respectively/, and a different foreign nationality of a future
spouse /48 and 30 percent respectively/.
According to the survey, Russians would not approve of a marriage
between people of different religions: 48 percent take this difference
negatively. Marriages between people of different generations are not
supported either /42 percent/, though about the same number of the
respondents was neutral about such marriages /40 percent/.
The all-Russian survey was conducted on July 3-4 in Russia's 140
cities and towns of 42 regions and territories. Exactly 1,600 took part in
the survey. The error margin does not exceed 3.4 percent.


.Most Russians support the Interior Ministry's reform necessary.

MOSCOW, July 10 (Itar-Tass) -- Most Russians /60 percent/ are
convinced that the reform of the Interior Ministry is necessary, as
reported by Russia's oldest polling institution, VCIOM.
Only 16 percent of the respondents do not agree the reform is
necessary. Every fourth would not give any answer.
The experts of the polling institution say that the respondents who
are sure the reform is necessary, most often suggested changing the staff
/20 percent/. They also expressed suggestions of improving the
transparency and fighting corruption /14 percent each/, changing the
structure of the ministry /12 percent/, and improving the moral features
of the staff there /ten percent/.
There were some more recommendations from the surveyed: to raise the
salaries /seven percent/, reduce the staff /four percent/, improve the
legal basis /three percent/, and to improve the technical equipment /two
percent/.
The all-Russian survey was conducted on June 19-20 in Russia's 140
cities and towns of 42 regions and territories. Exactly 1,600 took part in
the survey. The error margin does not exceed 3.4 percent.
