N Ossetia invites United Russia Party officials to tour republic.

VLADIKAVKAZ, July 10 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's North Ossetia welcomes
the United Russia Party officials to tour the republic. The republic's
tourism committee has worked out special routes to visit interesting
ancient places.
The tourist trip will be free of charge for the officials. The
officials coming on a tour may choose from five one-day walking routes and
two bicycle ones. Professional guides and life saviours will accompany the
group.
"This is a new pilot project," the head of the tourism committee Oleg
Kirsamov said. "We also offer a new commercial route to the Kazbek
Mountain, which is 5,033 meters high."
"Together with the regional emergencies ministry we organize a camp
for tourists at the level of 4,400 metres."
The party officials are invited to continue the traditions of
Vladikavkaz' tourist society organized in 1910. Back at that time the
historic monuments and the nature of North Ossetia and the whole Caucasus
attracted many tourists. The Military-Georgian Road, which goes along the
ancient caravan Silk Way, has always attracted much attention from
tourists.
North Ossetia has all conditions to develop tourism actively. Back in
1897 Russia's tzar administration issued a charter of the Society for
educational and tourist trips in North Ossetia. The tourist routes were
based on the descriptions and notes of a military topographer Pastukhov:
he had visited all the mountain peaks there and even modern alpinists use
his notes.
There is a legendary Tsey alpinist camp /ski resort/ in North Ossetia.
The Tsey's old-timers are sure that the officials of any rank will enjoy
the guaranteed "incredible lack of civilisation" there and "the shining of
the most bright stars right above the head".
It used to be fashionable to spend time at the Caucasus, and the Tsey
camp did not need any advertising, what it needed was a certain limitation
of the un-organised crowds that rushed to explore the routes or to collect
herbs, those who wanted to see the transparent water of the springs there.
Nowadays, the Caucasus regains its popularity.
This is why North Ossetia invites the United Russia Party officials
who claim they "are prepared to make their personal input in the
development of tourism in the North Caucasus."

.Japan, Russia agree to build LNG plant in Vladivostok - source.

TOKYO, July 10 (Itar-Tass) -- Japan and Russia "have agreed basically
at the governmental level to build near Vladivostok a plant to liquefy
natural gas," Japan's the Nikkei wrote on Saturday.
Natural gas "will be delivered by a pipeline from a field in Eastern
Siberia," the weekly wrote.
The plant is planned to go operational "in 2017, and five million
tonnes of the product will be exported to Japan annually." This supply
will make 7.5 percent of LNG imported by Japan, the article reads.
Together with the Sakhalin supplies, the Vladivostok's LNG will make up
"17 percent of LNG imported by Japan."
Japan's government "intends to sign an agreement with the Russian side
over the upcoming visit of Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev to Japan
around the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Yokohama in
November."
Japan is the world's leading importer of LNG: over 2009, the country
bought about 66.3 million tonnes. Due to the higher consumption of LNG in
Indonesia and Malaysia, the main supplies to Japan, and to the growing
demand in China and India, the access to new markets "becomes a vital
matter for Japan," experts say.

.DPRK to resume sextet talks on Korean Peninsula.

PYONGYANG, July 10 (Itar-Tass) -- The DPRK is ready to "undertake
efforts to resume the sextet talks on the denuclearisation of the Korean
Peninsula and the peace treaty to replace the present armistice
agreement," a source in the DPRK's Foreign Ministry told the Korean
Central News Agency /KCNA/ on Saturday.
The diplomat reacted to the statement from the UN Security Council
which does not contain direct proofs that the DPRK is responsible for the
sinking of the Cheonan corvette. He said that the UN "took into the
consideration the views of many counties, including those of the DPRK,
which has nothing to do with the incident" in the Yellow Sea on March 26.
Pyongyang noted, the source said, that the UN SC "supports exclusively
peaceful settlement of the problems in the Korean Peninsula."
At the same time, the foreign ministry criticised Washington and Seoul
for the use of the incident with the corvette to build up the tension in
the Korean Peninsula and demanded a group of experts from the DPRK allowed
to the place of the sinking.
If "hostile forces continue their provocative actions and demonstrate
the force despite the UN statement urging to avoid conflicts in the Korean
Peninsula, they will be punished severely," the diplomat said.
The UN Security Council has disapproved of the attack of the Cheonan,
but did not name the side to blame for it. The UN statement said that the
Security Council disapproves of the attack and is concerned deeply about
the event. The statement contains appeals to undertake relevant and
peaceful measures towards those responsible for the accident.
