`FRANCE BACKS INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED BORDERS OF AZERBAIJAN`
Baku, July 10 (AzerTAc). French senator Nathalie Goulet`s has used the “questions to government” procedure at the French parliament to ask Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Bernard Kouchner about “France`s attitude to representation of the so-called “Nagorno-Karabakh Republic” in France”.
On behalf of the French Minister, Secretary of State Herve Novelli spoke at the France`s Senate plenary session on July 6, saying France supports internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan, its sovereignty and territorial integrity and does not recognize independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Novelli pointed out France does not maintain any contacts with Nagorno-Karabakh`s “government agencies”. According to the Secretary, Minsk Group co-chair Bernard Fassier is the only one who is entitled to travel to Nagorno-Karabakh and contact “governmental bodies” there.
On the recent trip of a few members of the French National Assembly to Nagorno-Karabakh, Novelli said they are to blame themselves and it is nothing to do with France`s position.
