MIDDLE EAST GETS ITS MILK AND DAIRY PRODUCTS FROM TURKEY

TRABZON (A.A) - 09.07.2010 - Turkey, which has recently increased its milk and dairy products exports thanks to its modernized production facilities, is conducting the highest export in this sector to the countries in the Middle East.
Turkey's transition from small family enterprises to large-scale modern production facilities has boosted the country's exports in milk and dairy products, officials told AA on Friday.
Turkey currently exports the highest amount of products to the Middle East region, followed by Turkic Republics, officials said.
Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Azerbaijan, USA, Albania, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt and Lebanon are the top importers of Turkish products, sources added.
Turkey exported 65,258 tons of milk and dairy products, worth 150.3 million USD, in 2009.
"Cheese" constitutes more than half of Turkey's total exports in this sector.
A major part of the milk and dairy product facilities are located in Turkey's Aegean and Marmara regions.
