Melbourne man trampled by bulls in Spain

A Melbourne teenager seriously injured when trampled during Pamplona's famous
running of the bulls remains in a Spanish hospital.
Nicholas Ward, 18, and a 20-year-old Spaniard from the northern city of Saragossa,
were taken to hospital after trying to outrun the pack, a spokesman told local
newspaper Diario de Navarra.
It reported that Nicholas fractured three lumbar vertebrae when he lost his balance
and was run over during the stretch of Telefonica, near the bullring alley entrance.
He had been enjoying the Spanish city's annual bull festival San Fermin with his
father, Howard Ward, who is now returning to Australia for work.
Mr Ward said he had been concerned about the race.
"I knew it was dangerous but when children become adults [I] believe they can make
their own decisions and not listen to the advice of others," he said.
The teenager's mother and sister are in Paris and will stay with Nicholas, who is
expected to remain in the Hospital de Navarra for two weeks.
