Kazakhstan ratifies documents regulating Customs Union's operation.

ASTANA, July 8 (Itar-Tass) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has
signed several laws on ratification of several documents regulating the
operation of the Customs Union.
In particular, he signed the law on ratification of the agreement on
the order of calculation and distribution of import duties and other
duties in the Customs Union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, the
president's press service said on Thursday.
Earlier, Kazakh Finance Minister Bolat Zhamishev underlined that "the
creation and application of the rules on calculation and distribution of
import duties is one of the preconditions for uniting customs territories
of the member-states and completing the formation of the Customs Union."
"Taking into account a declining import trends in 2009 and in 2010 and
similar forecasts for 2011 these rates will be undoubtedly advantageous
for us within the upcoming five years and therefore it is expedient to
raise the issue of changing them," he said.
The distribution of the customs duties will be the following - Belarus
- 4.7 percent, Kazakhstan - 7.33 percent and Russia - 87.97 percent.
Nazarbayev also signed laws on ratification of the protocol on
amendments to the agreement on principles of exemption of indirect taxes
on the import and export of goods and services in the Customs Union and of
the protocol of the order of exemption of indirect taxes and the mechanism
of control over the payment during the export and import of goods.
On July 5, 2010, the presidents of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus
signed a statement for the Customs Code of the Customs Union to enter into
force. It became operational between Russia and Kazakhstan on July 1,
2010, and Belarus joined it on July 6.
