ABOUT COURSE OF SOWING

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday, the cabinet members got acquainted with results of 2010 spring sowing. In connection with it, the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry T.Badamjunai was ordered to intensify technical and technological reforms in land farming, to organize urgently the summer plough within its technological period, to give farmers technological recommendations on protecting grain and vegetables from heat, and to ensure preparation for harvesting.
As of today, grain has been planted on 260.8 thousand hectares area, potatoes--13.1 thousand hectares, vegetables--6.1 thousand hectares, oil vegetables--23.9 thousand hectares, fodder plants--7.6 thousand hectares, and fruits--on 517.4 hectares. Planting of barley, oat, rye and oil vegetables has increased against the same period of the previous year.
In frames of the Third Campaign for Reclaiming Virgin Lands, it has been planned to put 230.0 hectares into circulation from virgin and year-long areas. For the time being, 255.3 thousand hectares have been put into use. Thus, the size of total useful for sowing area reached 584.0 hectares.
It is also planned to prepare good quality ploughed area this year on 274.3 thousand hectares. As of June 25, the first processing of ploughed area was done on 120.0 hectares.
