PLAN OF REFORM IN HIGHER EDUCATION BACKED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Cabinet meeting held Wednesday discussed and backed in principle a draft plan of higher education's reform to be made in 2010-2012. The Minister of Education, Culture and Science Yo.Otgonbayar was charged to implement all the activities reflected in the plan.
Upon becoming the Premier, S.Batbopld met with authorities of the education's sector telling them that many works were required such as implementing a policy to increase the higher education's rating, making a basic reform in this sector, improving the structure of state-owned universities and institutes and state foundation system, developing campuses at higher education schools.
In frames of this policy, the package strategic goals have been reflected in the plan to improve the legal regulation on higher education in accordance with the latest times' requirements, to renovate the structure and management, to deepen a reform in the quality guarantee, standards and contents, to reform the enrollment policy, to ensure human resources and development of teachers, to bring the training and research environment into international standards, and to do a financial reform.
In the first turn, a research and conclusion will be done on present situation of the higher education sector in 2010, and certain measures will be taken in accordance with the governmental policy.
In 2011, a law on higher education schools is to be drawn up, rates fixing structure will be created, duplications in professions will be abolished, a support will be given to students in meetin standards, teachers' skills will be improved, and related equipment is to be renovated. In 2012, measures will be taken to control over implementation of the higher education policy and to determine thoroughly further measures.
