Combating poverty is ultimate governmental priority: al-Arhabi says

SANA'A, July 07
(Saba) - Combating poverty and triggering the economic growth in Yemen is an
ultimate governmental
priority, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi
said on Saturday.
Opening a workshop on reviewing a draft study of the voices of the poor in 2010,
al-Arhabi highlighted the government nonstop efforts to tackle the economic
challenges Yemen
faces.
The minister has applauded the transparency of the study of the voices of the poor
in evaluating the third five-year plan, affirming that the recommendations of the
study
and workshop would be taken into consideration in the fourth plan.
He indicated to the importance of stimulating the development in the local
communities, creating job opportunities via putting up labor-intensive projects,
increasing the
small and micro-enterprises and to activate partnership between government and
private sector are good mechanisms to enhance the government's efforts aiming to
combat poverty.
The workshop has reviewed the draft study of the voices of the poor in 2010, which
includes a presentation of the evaluation on the impact of the government
interferences
in issues of combating poverty.
