RI'S LAMPUNG PROVINCE EARNS $54 M FROM VEGETABLE OIL EXPORTS

Bandar Lampung, July 20 (ANTARA) - Lampung province earned US$54.47 million from vegetable oil exports in May, an official said.

Paper/pulp and cocoa contributed US$15.68 million and US$5.25 million respectively to the total exports in May, spokesman of the Lampung Office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Dody Gunawan Yusuf said on Sunday.

He said vegetable oil contributed 26.18 percent to the May total exports, followed by coffee 22.68 percent, fish and shrimp 9.48 percent and paper/pulp 10.4 percent.

The four key commodities represented 67.43 percent of the province's exports in May, he said.

The province's exports in May rose 9.94 percent to US$242.79 million from US$220.84 million a month earlier, he said.

"Cumulatively, Lampung's exports in the January-May 2008 period reached US$1.05 billion, up by 101.53 percent from the same period last year," he said.
