Yemen, UNHCR review refugees conditions in Aden
ADEN, July 06 (Saba) - Yemen and the
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reviewed on Tuesday the issues
related
to the conditions of refugees living in Aden city.
In a meeting held in Aden, Aden Governor Adnan al-Jeffri and a delegation of the
UNHCR talked over difficulties resulted by the incessant increase of the number of
Somali
refugees coming to Aden city through land and sea outlets.
The increasing number of African refugees causes a big burden in the city,
particularly providing the basic services.
The Governor said that the number of Somali comers to Aden had reached nearly
850000 refugees, calling on the UNHCR and relevant authorities to present the
required assistance
for the refugees.
For his part, the UN delegation expressed his appreciation for the role exerted by
Aden leaders to receive these refugees.
The delegation promised that it is going to submit a report to the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva on the refugees' conditions in
Yemen,
hoping the refugees' conditions to be improved.
Meanwhile, the UNHCR delegation has paid a visit to Kharaz camp located in Lahj
Governorate in order to inspect the refugees' conditions there.
