Yemen, Syria discuss agricultural cooperation
SANA'A, July 06 (Saba) - Deputy Prime
Minister for Internal Affairs Sadiq Abu Ras met here on Tuesday with a delegation of
the
General Union of Syrian Peasants, currently visiting Yemen ,headed by Hamad al-Saud.
Talks in the meeting dealt with the means to develop a joint executive program to
strengthen the agricultural and economic cooperation between Yemen and Syria.
The two sides discussed possibility of implementing agreements and protocols signed
between the two countries in field of exchanging experiences and agricultural
products
according to a timetable, so as to ensure the economic and developmental benefit for
both countries.
Abu Ras noted to the level of coordination and integration especially after
starting the process of twining between the Yemeni Cooperative Agricultural Union
and its Syrian
counterpart, stressing the importance of availing from the Syrian successful
experiences in the agricultural field.
He affirmed the Yemeni government's keenness to strengthen the joint cooperation
with its Syrian counterpart especially in the agricultural and livestock fields,
calling
for the need to overcome the problem of marketing agricultural products within the
Arab region.
For his part, al-Saud confirmed his country's interest in the economic and
agricultural integration between the Arab countries to serve the interests of the
Arab peoples
and to solve the food security problem.
