Promoting of products flow between Yemen, Syria discussed

SANA'A, July 06 (Saba) -
Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation Mansour al-Hawshabi met here on Tuesday with
the
Syrian Peasants Union's delegation, currently visiting Yemen ,headed by Hamad al-Saud.
Talks in the meeting focused on the importance of promoting the flow of products
and agricultural commodities between the two countries by benefiting of the
existing bilateral
relations between the two countries.
The two sides discussed the joint cooperation, especially in the field of
agriculture and irrigation and means of boosting it to serve the agricultural
sector in the two
brotherly countries.
Al-Hawshabi pointed out the significance of availing from the two countries'
experiences in the cooperative and agricultural field, so as to serve the
agricultural development
efforts and enhance the agricultural sector's role in achieving the food security.
For his part, the Syrian official pointed out that the visit aims at strengthening
relations of agricultural and economic cooperation and signing an executive program
of
the bilateral cooperation protocol, signed between the two sides during the meeting
of the Joint Yemeni-Syrian Committee in Damascus.
It is worth to mention that the volume of trade exchange between Yemen and Syria
rose last year to about YR 13.6 billion, compared to YR 12.6 billion in 2008, while
the
total trade balance between the two countries amounted during 2009 to YR 10.6
billion, nearly for Syria's favor.
