.Russian ISS crewmembers open hatch of docked freighter Progress.

MOSCOW, July 5 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian crewmembers from the ISS-24 crew
Alexander Skvortsov, Mikhail Kornienko and Fyodor Yurchikhin opened a
hatch of the freighter Progress M-06M, which docked successfully in
automatic mode to the International Space Station (ISS), a source in the
Mission Control Center in the Moscow Region told Itar-Tass.
The Progress hatch cannot be opened right after the docking, as at
first the freighter should be brought close to the ISS by a special cable,
the crewmen should examine the connection pressurization, level out the
pressure and place special mechanical strainers, the source recalled.
Before the unloading the spacemen will put clamps, take air samples
and mothball the freighter.
The spacemen isolated in the outer space are usually seeking to get
letters and parcels from relatives and friends out of the freighter and
bring the so-called 'urgent cargoes' to the station.
The crew will keep bringing other cargoes to the station within a few
months. "It is a very hard and long work even in the zero gravity," the
source said. "They should not only remove the bolts or belts, by which
each cargo is fastened to a special arm, but also to bring it to a special
place selected in advance at the station. After each unloading operation
at the freighter they should put a ten-digital number of a shipment bill
in the onboard computer," the expert elaborated.
The docking with the freighter Progress is the final nighttime
operation this week, therefore the crew will get back to the daily
schedule in the next two days - wakeup at 10 am Moscow time and the time
for bed at 01.30 am Moscow time. The crewmen were working at the nighttime
all the week - got up at 3 pm Moscow time and went down to bed at 06.30 am
Moscow time.
The Progress M-06M launched from the Baikonur spaceport on June 30 and
docked at 8.17 pm Moscow time on Sunday at the second attempt to the ISS.
