MP: Iran has right to lodge complaint against US for sanctions

Tehran, July 5, IRNA – A senior parliamentarian said that Iran has the right to lodge complaints against the US for imposing unilateral sanctions against the country.

Kazem Jalali who serves as the spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Majlis (Parliament) made the remarks while talking to IRNA on Monday in an exclusive interview.

He said though Iran was fully aware of the fact that most of international bodies never acted impartially in dealing with the complaints lodged by world nations against big powers, it still reserved the right for itself to file cases against the US sanctions on Iran.

On the ban of sale of fuel for Iranian airplanes by Americans, he said imposing such sanctions was against international regulations as well as human rights laws.

He stressed that exerting pressures on and imposing sanctions against Iran was basically an unlawful act which stood in contradiction with human rights laws.

The MP further stressed that Iran’s history in the past three decades indicated that sanctions of any kind will only result in further progress and advancement of Iran.

Jalali said such behaviors which were encouraged by extremist Zionist attitudes took their roots from the problem the Zionist regime has with Iran for Tehran’s pioneering role in defending rights of the Palestinian nation./end
