QUAKE HITS YOGYAKARTA, CENTRAL AND EAST JAVA
Yogyakarta, July 20 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale jolted parts of Yogyakarta, Central Java and East Java provinces on Sunday but there was no immediate report of casualties or material damage.
The epicenter of the quake which struck at 01.11 p.m. was in the sea about 135 km southeast of the Gunungkidul district capital of Wonosari in Yogyakarta province at a depth of 10 km, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) said.
The quake did not have the potential of causing a tsunami, the agency said.
The quake was felt by people living in several parts of Yogyakarta, Central Java and East Java provinces, including Bantul, Gunungkidul, Klaten, Karanganyar and Pacitan.
