Iran commemorates 28th anniversary of abducted diplomats
Tehran, July 4, IRNA – A ceremony to commemorate the 28th anniversary of four Iranian diplomats, kidnapped by Zionist forces in Lebanon in 1982, started at the Foreign Ministry venue here on Sunday.
The ceremony is attended by a group of foreign diplomats in the Islamic Republic, relatives of the abducted diplomats, a group of Majlis deputies and representatives of Hamas and Hezbullah in Tehran as well as a number of senior Iranian officials.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki is to address the ceremony.
The then charge d’affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Beirut, Mohsen Mousavi, Iranian diplomat Taqi Rastegar-Moqaddam, Iranian military attaché Ahmad Motevasselian and IRNA photojournalist Kazem Akhavan were kidnapped in 1982 while being escorted by the Lebanese police on their way home from a mission in northern Lebanon./end
