Poles to choose new president in election run-off.
WARSAW, July 4 (Itar-Tass) - Poles will choose a new president on
Sunday in an election run-off.
There are two candidates for the presidential seat after the first
round of the elections on June 20 - Bronislaw Komorowski, candidate of
Poland's ruling pro-business Civic Reform, and Lech Kaczynski's twin
brother, Jaroslaw.
Opinions polls conducted by the country's leading TV channels
predicted the victory in the race to Komorowski. TNS OBOP pollster
forecasts that he would get 55 percent of votes, while Kaczynski will be
supported by 45 percent of voters.
MillawardBrown SMG/KRC says the parliamentary speaker will end the
race with 51 percent of votes and the leader of Poland's main right-wing
opposition party - 44 percent.
Along with this for the first time over the past two months GFK
Polonia showed different results - Kaczynski's victory with a 2 percent
lead.
According to the state election commission, the run-off will take
place at the same polling stations and under the same conditions as the
first round.
"No changes are planned, there is no such need," an official at the
election commission said.
The election in Poland's regions affected by recent floods will take
place "in a normal mode," the official said.
The official results of the election will be announced on Monday.
The election in Poland was called after the death of President Lech
Kaczynski in a plane crash near Russia's Smolensk on April 10.
