Customs Authority chairman praises Customs Council 115th meeting

SANA'A, July 02 (Saba)- Chairman of the Customs Authority Mahammed Zamam has described his participation in the 115th meeting of the World Customs Organization Council as successful.

In a statement to Saba, Zamam said that the results of the meeting focused on the
approval of the Council to finalize providing technical support for the Yemen
Customs Authority
after it was suspended in 2009 and also approved to support Yemen to finalize
accession procedures to the Kyoto Protocol during the current year to improve
systems of the
customs department.
He noted that accession of Yemen to the Kyoto Protocol will help benefit from the
international experiences with regard to customs as Yemen is an active member in
the Council.
Zamam also spoke over results of his meetings with officials at the World Customs
Organization Council which defined the technical and institutional support
mechanisms between
the two sides as well as putting the related preparations to sign a number of
executive action plans set to be inked in the second half of the current year.
