MILLI MAJLIS SPEAKER MEETS MEPS
Baku, July 2 (AzerTAc). Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov has today met a delegation of the European Parliament.
The sides discussed a number of issues, including development of cooperation between Milli Majlis and EP, parliamentary diplomacy, Azerbaijan`s European integration and cooperation within the Eastern Partnership program.
Asadov said European integration was one of the directions of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy. He noted Azerbaijan had close cooperation with the European Union and its bodies.
The Speaker pointed out the association agreement to be signed between Azerbaijan and EU would contribute to deepening bilateral cooperation in all spheres.
He underlined “there is fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and EU within the Eastern Partnership program, as well”.
Member of the delegation Norica Nicolai, who represents Romania in the EP, said the parliamentary diplomacy should be used effectively to develop friendly relations among “our peoples”.
