NAKHCHIVAN HOSTS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GASTROENTEROLOGY AND HEPATOLOGY

Nakhchivan, July 2 (AzerTAc). The Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan has hosted an international conference on gastroenterology and hepatology.
Co-organized by the Cooperation Center of Azerbaijanis and Other Turkic-speaking Countries (CCATC) and Turkish Gastroenterology Society, the event brought together nearly 20 experts from Nakhchivan, Baku and Ganja and over 50 doctors and scholars from Turkey.
Ilham Ismayilov, CCATC chairman, expressed confidence the conference would contribute to expanding the experience exchange between experts from Turkic-speaking countries.
Ali Ozden, Chief of the Turkish Gastroenterology Society, recalled last years` conferences in Azerbaijan.
“In the last two years we had similar conferences in Ganja and Baku. These conferences laid good foundations for conducting the experience exchange between Azeri and Turkish doctors, and also for boosting our medical cooperation.”
“And today we`ve gathered in Nakhchivan, an extremely important region for the Turkic world, with an aim to further expand cooperation between our medical experts,” said Ozden.
Gafar Aliyev, an official at the socio-political affairs department at the Azerbaijani President`s Administration, praised the holding of the conference in Nakhchivan.
“The aim of our gathering is to familiarize the participants with socio-political, economic, educational, cultural and healthcare achievements of ancient Nakhchivan, which is considered the door to the East, and also give practical advice to Nakhchivan`s doctors specializing in gastroenterology and involve them in the experience exchange.”
The conference heard reports on latest achievements in gastroenterology.
