BAKU HOSTS EBU GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Baku, July 1 (AzerTAc). The European Broadcasting Union, EBU, has convened in Azerbaijan`s capital for its 64th General Assembly. The event, hosted by the Azerbaijan Public TV and Radio Broadcasting Company, brings together officials from 75 TV and radio broadcasters from 46 countries.
In his opening remarks, EBU President Jean-Paul Phillipot thanked the Azerbaijan Public TV and Radio Broadcasting Company for “high-level organization” of the event.
Director General of the Azerbaijan Public TV Ismayil Omarov expressed confidence the Baku gathering would open new opportunities for boosting the cooperation among member states of the European Broadcasting Union. He praised the Public TV`s role in building and preserving freedom of speech in the country.
The focus of this year`s General Assembly is quality in journalism and the future of media.
