CSTO to decide on military assistance to Kyrgyzstan

ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow region, July 1 (Itar-Tass) - The secretary-general
of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Nikolai Bordyuzha, said on
Thursday CSTO member-states are preparing a decision on military and
technical assistance to Kyrgyzstan hit by ethnic riots.
"The supplies of arms and hardware face a complex procedure. At
present, a decision on military and technical assistance to Kyrgyzstan is
being prepared at the level of heads of states," he said.
"As for Russia over the past two weeks it supplied around 300 tonnes
of different cargoes to Kyrgyzstan's south," he said.
Speaking about efforts taken by the CSTO rapid reaction force in Osh
and Bishkek, Bordyuzha said, "Its servicemen closely cooperate with
Kyrgyzstan's law enforcers." "Along with this they are studying action
plans to stabilize the situation."
"The situation in the republic is rather stable, it is controlled by
law enforcement agencies, but attempts to exert pressure on people have
been registered. We take this into account in our work," Bordyuzha said.
