Many weapons, ammunition confiscated in southern Kyrgyzstan.

BISHKEK, July 1 (Itar-Tass) - A large amount of firearms and
ammunition were confiscated from people in military and police special
operations in the Osh and Jalal-Abad regions of Kyrgyzstan, where mass
disorders, lootings and arsons had recently broken out.
Some 23 combat grenades, 32 Kalashnikov assault rifles, four pistols,
an under-barrel grenade launcher, several homemade pistols and about 1,500
cartridges have been confiscated from people so far, the press service of
the military commandant in the Osh Region told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
"According to the latest reports, detectives and representatives of
the military prosecutor's office in the Osh garrison have found 230 people
dead, 141 of which died of gunshot wounds and 89 people died of injuries
and burns," the press service said. Some 83 dead people have not been
identified yet.
Mass disorders broke out in the southern Kyrgyz city of Osh overnight
to June 11. On the next day the disorders spread on the neighbouring
Jalal-Abad Region. Some 294 people were killed and more than 2.2 thousand
people sought medical aid during the conflict. Over 1.3 thousand houses
and buildings were burnt down in the lootings. According to preliminary
estimates, the population and the state sustained one billion dollars in
damages during the disorders. The state of emergency and the curfew were
extended in the Osh and Jalal-Abad Regions until August 10. According to
various estimates, refugees numbered from 300,000 to 700,000 people,
almost all of them came back to their homes.
