AZERI CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER MEETS EU SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR SOUTH CAUCASUS
Baku, July 1 (AzerTAc). Chairman of Azerbaijan Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov has met today EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby.
Panahov said the Commission attaches great importance to cooperation with the EU.
He briefed Semneby on the ongoing build-up to the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country. He said the elections would be held in accordance with the electoral legislation and European standards.
Semneby, in turn, recalled the “fruitful” meetings he held at the Central Election Commission during his previous visits.
He expressed assurance that bilateral cooperation would continue to develop.
The diplomat also expressed confidence that the forthcoming parliamentary elections will be held successfully in Azerbaijan.
The sides also exchanged views on prospects for cooperation between CEC and EU.
