VP KICKS OFF DEVELOPMENT OF INTEGRATED SELF-RELIANT CITIES IN GOTONTALO

Boalemo, Gorontalo, Indonesia, July 19 (ANTARA) - Vice President M Jusuf Kalla officially kicked off the development of four integrated self-reliant city zones located in transmigration areas with a total width of 39,600 ha in Gorontalo province.
Accompanied by Manpower and Transmigration Minister Erman Suparno, Kalla laid the first corner stone of the city construction at Pawonsari, Boalemo, Gorontalo Province, on Saturday.
The four integrated self-reliant cities are Pawonsari (in Boalemo, Gorontalo Province), Air Terang (in Buoli, Central Sulawesi Province), Bungku (Morowali, Central Sulawesi Province), and Mahalona (in East Luwu, South Sulawesi).
Pawonsari integrated self-reliant city in Boalemo will consist of, among other things, 25 villages, animal husbandry, plantation and farming areas.
The new integrated cities are expected to help create jobs for at least 400,000 people and supply food products such as paddy, sugarcane, soybean, and corn, to domestic markets.
Vice President Kalla on the occasion presented Rp10 billion in funds to sugarcane farmers, medicines to cattle farmers, 10 power generators, and 17,000 plant seedlings.
