GDF SUEZ ‘WANTS’ TO BUY AZERI GAS

Baku, June 30 (AzerTAc). Vice-Chairman and President of GDF SUEZ, Jean-Francois Cirelli, has expressed the company`s intention to purchase “large amounts” of gas from Azerbaijan.
Cirelli spoke to Azeri deputy industry and energy minister, Natig Abbasov, as part of his visit to Baku.
“We have an intention to be part of the process of transporting Azerbaijan`s gas to the European markets as part of the Shahdeniz-2 project,” he told Abbasov.
GDF SUEZ is one of the largest gas suppliers in France.
The company deploys its exploration and production activities in the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Norway, Algeria, Egypt, and, in a more limited way, in Mauritania, the Ivory Coast, the USA, Indonesia, Denmark and France. The firm is also present in Azerbaijan, where it conducts exploration and drilling work at Absheron field. GDF SUEZ is expected to put $200 million in the project.
