Iran's conditions for resumption of nuclear talks, "logical": MP

Tehran, June 30, IRNA – A senior parliamentarian said here on Wednesday that Iran’s conditions for resumption of talks on its peaceful nuclear program is "logical".

The remarks were made by Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Majlis, while talking to IRNA journalists during his visit to the agency’s headquarters this morning.

Referring to the issue of fuel swap, he reiterated that the West is taking political advantage from the issue.

Condemning the issuance of Resolution 1929 by the UN Security Council, the MP said the move which was encouraged by Washington was to mislead the world public opinion from the Zionists' attack on the peace flotilla carrying humanitarian aid for the people in the Gaza Strip.

Referring to the Zionist regime as a serious security threat in the region, he said one of the main tasks of the Security Council is providing global security.

Boroujerdi regretted that while the Security Council remains indifferent towards the atrocities of the Zionist regime which enjoys over 200 nuclear warheads, issues resolutions against Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.

Such attitudes by the Security Council indicate that the council is a US puppet, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is committed to all its articles, while the US, France, Britain and Germany have violated the international treaty, he reiterated.

Rejecting the approach of the Western countries towards Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, Boroujerdi said, on one hand, they want to negotiate and, on the other, they issue resolutions and impose sanctions on the country.

The MP further called on the West to give a logical response to Iran’s proposals./end
