Mottaki: Countries should act more efficiently in talks with Iran

Tehran, June 29, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minsiter Manouchehr Mottaki said countries involved in talks with Iran should act more efficiently.
He made the remarks Tuesday morning during a press conference at IRNA headquarters with domestic and foreign press and media.
Stressing that Iran has always acted transparently and supported negotiations, he said the misconduct of certain countries in regards to talks with Iran is only repeating experiences by them which have already proved to fail.
Referring to the American administrations’ habit of following wrong policies for a long time before realizing their inefficiency, he said Americans have recently admitted their wrong policies in Afghanistan after eight years of occupation but the thing is that the world could not afford to let the US run out of all its wrong policies and even pay for them.
The foreign minister stressed that the signing of the latest anti-Iran resolution by certain countries was only due to the fact that, as these countries admitted themselves, they wanted to save their faces in the international arena.
He said the US and its allies now have seen that the countries which sat for talks in Tehran voted against the resolution.
The foreign minister was further asked to comment on years-old threats by Americans against Iran and the recent claims that the US, aided by Saudi Arabia and Georgia, was currently threatening Iran’s borders.
Mottaki said the issue of threatening Iran with military attacks was mainly manipulated as an instrument in the service of other purposes rather than being a practical agenda being capable of real implementation.
He stressed that military options would have certainly been implemented during the Bush area have they been regarded as efficient and practical.
In an answer to another question, he said letters have already been sent to the Vienna group member states while the letter to Catherine Ashton was still being prepared./end
