Iran keen to foster security co-op among ECO members

Tehran, June 29, IRNA – Iran's Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar forwarded some proposals at a ceremony here on Tuesday to foster security cooperation among ECO member countries.
Mohammad-Najjar made the remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 1st Meeting of the Heads of Interpol of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Member States for two days in the capital city of Tehran.
Najjar offered formation of the regional police headquarters that would bring about further regional security cooperation. He also called for quick exchange of information about the crimes among the ECO members in order to ensure peace and security worldwide.
Mohammad-Najjar said that international relations on security issues will play an effective role in sympathizing with those who are hurt by the crimes.
ECO is an inter-governmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran-Pakistan-Turkey for the purpose of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states.
Current ECO members includes the Islamic Republic of Iran, Afghanistan, Republics of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan./end
