Nursultan Nazarbayev University opens in Astana.

ASTANA, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- The opening ceremony of an
international university, the aim of which will be the formation of the
country's future intellectual elite, was held in the Kazakh capital. This
educational establishment was named after Nursultan Nazarbayev. The latter
participated in its opening ceremony.
The new university is being formed with the participation of a number
of such leading foreign collages as the University Collage of London, the
Ducal University, the National University of Singapore and some others.
In his opening address, the president of the country warmly
congratulated the professorial and teaching staff and students of the new
university with this happy for the country event. "We open a unique
university which will occupy a worthy place among similar educational
establishments from London to Singapore," the Kazakh president said in
conclusion.
At present, teaching will be conducted according to the program
"Foundation." The services of teachers form the University Collage of
London will be enlisted. The head of state has already issued an ordinance
on the allocation of 500 grants for students newly admitted to the
university.
