D.DEMBEREL MEETS INDIAN SPEAKER KUMAR
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Paying an official visit to Mongolia, a delegation headed by Mrs. Meira Kumar, the Speaker of the Parliamentary Lower House (Lok Sabha) of the Republic of India, laid Monday a wreath to the statue of Sukhbaatar and paid a tribute to the monument of Chingis Khaan.
Then the Parliament Speaker of Mongolia D.Demberel received Mrs. Kumar in the Government House. She signed the Book of Honorary Guests.
The Speakers shared views on Mongolia-India inter-parliamentary ties and cooperation.
Mr. Demberel expressed his satisfaction with meeting with India's parliamentary Speaker of Lower House in accordance with his wish. He mentioned about the long-year traditional bilateral relations and underlined that the visit of the Indian Speaker coincides with the 55th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and India. He noted that the state visit of the Mongolian President Ts.Elbegdorj paid to India in 2009 has been a historical important event affirming that the bilateral relations and cooperation have been brought into the level of comprehensive partnership ties.
The Mongolian Speaker pointed out that widening of the inter-parliamentary ties and cooperation and mutual visits of parliamentary leaders have given a big impetus to developing the relations, including the inter-parliamentary ties.
“The relations between our countries have been developing successfully in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The commercial ties and the size of trade turnover have been increasing as well. Some 200 students and the same number of monks are studying in India,” Mr. Demberel stressed, and underlined that Mongolian state servants are involved in foreign languages and IT trainings thanks to great efforts of the Indian Ambassadors to Mongolia.
Mr. Demberel mentioned learning the latest achievements of IT of India is the main guideline of Mongolian development, and said Mongolia intends to put its natural resources into economic circulation and exploit them for the economic basic development. He added that Mongolia wants to cooperate with India in developing the nuclear energy sector, co-exploiting the nuclear resources and making investments.
In her turn, Mrs. Kumar thanked the Speaker for inviting to Mongolia and for a warm welcome.
Beginning her speech, Mrs. Kumar said she thinks the new era of the Mongolia-India friendly relations and cooperation started by a document on friendly relations signed by the Mongolian President during his visit to India in 1994. She emphasized that the previous year's state visit of the Mongolian President to India significantly contributed to elevating the relations into a comprehensive partnership level. She mentioned that the inter-parliamentary ties played a main role in widening the relations between the two countries.
Mrs. Kumar said the Indian side is able to increase number of Mongolian parliamentary office's specialists to study in India, and put forward a proposal to stabilize info and views sharing between the parliamentary Standing committees and parliamentarians. Furthermore, she noted the countries have a possibility to expand the bilateral trade and to develop collaboration in the mining and agricultural sectors.
The Indian Speaker expressed her satisfaction with visiting Mongolia, which is done for the first time at parliamentary level after the visit of Indian parliamentary to Mongolia in 2001. “But I do not think that our countries did waste this time. The reason of it is that many important events took place in the history of bilateral relations in the last nine years,” stressed Mrs. Kumar, and invited Mongolia's Speaker D.Demberel to pay an official visit to India in December this year.
The Parliament Speaker D.Demberel expressed his agreement with Mrs. Kumar's views on importance for parliament to make the peoples' ties closer and on opportunities to develop the economic and cultural ties and cooperation in the agricultural sector. He hoped that the Indian side will pay more attention to training Mongolian youths in India and involving Mongolians state servants in IT trainings.
Present at the meeting were D.Lundeejantsan MP, head of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party's group at the State Great Khural; Ch.Saikhanbileg MP, head of the DemParty's group at parliament; D.Odbayar, head of the Mongolia-India inter-parliamentary group; R.Gonchigdorj, a deputy head of this group; V.Enkhbold, the Ambassador of Mongolia to the Republic of India; Ts.Sharavdorj, the Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Office; and other officials.
