Over 90% support new constitution, Otunbayeva as interim president.

BISHKEK, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- At the Sunday referendum in Kyrgyzstan
more than 90% of Kyrgyz citizens voted for a new constitution and vesting
head of the interim government Roza Otunbayeva with the powers of interim
president until December 31, 2011.
The ballots have already been counted from 2,159 out of 2,319 polling
stations, a source in the Central Elections Commission (CEC) for elections
and referenda in the republic told Itar-Tass. "Some 90.79% (about 1.67
million people) voted for (the new constitution and Otunbayeva as interim
president) and 7.89% (145,000 people) voted against," the CEC source said.
The preliminary official results of the referendum will be announced
in the next few hours, the CEC source said.
A simple majority from 1.9 million people, who voted at the
referendum, is needed for the approval of the new constitution and vesting
Otunbayeva with presidential powers. About 2.7 million people entitled to
vote were registered in Kyrgyzstan.

.Putin to discuss student sport development, Universiade, Olympics.

MOSCOW, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
will hold a meeting of the presidium of the Presidential Council for
Development of Physical Culture and Sports at the Russian national
training center "Ozero Krugloye" (Round Lake) in the Moscow Region on
Monday. He will discuss with ministers and sport officials preparations
for the Sochi Olympics-2014 and the World Summer Universiade-2013 in
Kazan. "A forthcoming meeting will be mainly devoted to the development of
student sport in Russia," a source in the Russian government said.
"Specifically, the meeting will highlight the use of new, attractive
for students types, methods and means of sport trainings, particularly
during the vacations, the creation of conditions for the work of sport
clubs and sport teams on the premises of higher educational establishments
and the buildup of material-technical base," the source added.
"Additional opportunities for the student sport development open up
thanks to a forthcoming Universiade in Kazan that will enable to arrange
the centralized training of the backup teams for the Russian national
teams and to develop the sport infrastructure as much efficiently as
possible," he said.
'The financial results' of Russia's performance at the Vancouver
Olympics are also to be summed up at the meeting. The Audit Chamber will
present a report on how efficiently budget allocations were spent for the
training of the national team for the Vancouver Olympics and for the
participation in the Olympics.
Vladimir Putin will also visit a new water sport center ready for
commissioning and an operating gymnastics hall at the training center
"Ozero Krugloye".
Russia has 1,114 higher educational institutions, in which 7.5 million
people study, more than 80% of which attend gym trainings. Just 40% of
students go in for sports regularly in the leisure time.
Educational institutions offer more than 60 kinds of sport, the most
popular of which are badminton, basketball, boxing, gymnastics, skiing,
track and field athletics, some kinds of martial arts, fencing, football,
ping-pong and chess. Some 13 student leagues were created.
Since 2008 Russia revived multi-stage student competitions: national
universiades, student sport festivals and championships. The funding of
these events was increased considerably. Some 138.8 million roubles were
allocated for these purposes in 2010.
Alongside, university students represent Russia at international sport
forums much more successfully than Olympic athletes. Russia was ranked
second in the team standings with 51 medals at the Winter Universiade-2008
in Harbin and was on the top with 76 medals at the Winter Universiade-2009
in Belgrade.

.Turnout makes about 69% at referendum in Kyrgyzstan.

BISHKEK, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- The turnout has made 69% of voters at
the Sunday referendum in Kyrgyzstan, chairman of the Kyrgyz Central
Elections Commission (CEC) Akylbek Sariyev said here on Monday.
About 93% of protocols have been processed so far. "This is caused by
the fact that there are some remote polling stations in some regions of
the republic that did not file the protocols," Sariyev said. The protocols
from the city of Osh were not delivered out of security considerations
overnight to Monday. Sariyev noted that the protocols would be brought on
Monday.
The election returns will be summed up only after all original
protocols from the regions have been delivered, the CEC chairman said.
Sariyev reiterated that complaints were lodged and no serious incidents
occurred during the referendum.
More than 90% Kyrgyz voters supported a new Constitution, and about
eight percent voted against it, according to the preliminary results. The
ballot count continues.
